After 26 years, Italy will once again be the setting for the XVI edition of the ERMCO International Congress, a not-to-be-missed date for people all over the world who have an interest in any aspect of concrete. Two days of work accompanied by an "off-congress" programme will ensure opportunities not only to learn more about concrete, the most widely used construction material in the world, but also to enjoy a delightful stay in one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
The event is scheduled at a very difficult time for the economy in Western countries and especially in the depths of a recession in the construction industry that is making its full effects felt exactly now.
Faced by the reality that legitimate worries outweigh any for an upturn in production, the European concrete industry meets in Verona not least for objective analysis of the ups and downs it is currently called upon to tackle.
The meeting will hopefully identify a way ahead towards recovery based on a variety of aspects - from the rationalisation of company organisation, to development of added-value products, and identification of other current market openings - particularly associated with two major development opportunities for construction: trans-national infrastructures and urban renewal in Europe's towns and cities.
These themes and comparisons will be discussed by internationally renowned experts and sector representatives.
Verona in June 2012 will therefore see an important moment for our industry and will also be the occasion to meet again to strengthen old friendships and make new ones.
